General Statement of Duties
The purpose of the classification is to provide career and placement services to the public through The North Central Career Center and/or the Mount Wachusett Community College Adult Basic Education program. Employees in this classification perform vocational counseling, testing, assessment, and referral work. This Classification is responsible for designing/delivering career development workshops and orientations, providing career assessment/development/management services, providing case management services to all career center and/or Adult Education customers including but not limited to specialized populations such as adult, youth, and dislocated workers, and assisting with planning/implementation of The Career Center and Adult Education programs.
Utilize program technology and curriculum to provide successful employment and educational counseling services;
Counsel students on educational and career goals through utilizing program tools such as the Education and Career Plan, Academic Action Plans, College and Career lessons, and goal setting activities.
Work with Adult Education staff to manage the enrollment process, such as placement assessment, intake appointments, orientation sessions, and follow up communications after exit;
Meet regularly with department staff to provide superior service to students and educate themselves on academic, training, and other program that will ensure student success;
Meet regularly with instructional staff to take part in Student Success meetings as method to better assist students in meeting their academic and career goals and to identify/eliminate any barriers impeding academic success;
Meet with members of the MWCC Division of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development, Division of Academic Affairs, and leadership within the Adult Education and Training program to understand the following MWCC programs to educate students on training options at MWCC:
Non-Credit Occupational Training
Manufacturing Programs (IRT, QTT, ATT)
Healthcare programs (EMT, CNA, etc) and its relationship to the work of the career center
MWCC Credit Bearing Academic Programs
Academic Advising to review enrollment processes at the college
Meet with members of the MWCC Division of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development to understand the TechHire program and other LLL programing and their relationship to the work of the career center;
The Employee will be able to identify partner agencies (MRC, DTA, etc.) of MWCC and Mass Hire and describe their services and intake/referral processes to students;
Collaborate with Adult Education Liaison (located in Mass Hire) to identify community resources will aid students in their pursuit of furthering their career and/or post-secondary aspirations;
Utilize everyday technology (email, iConnect, etc) and Career Specific software and resources (MassCIS, etc) to effectively and efficiently serve the students of the Adult Education program;
Attend in-house trainings provided by the MWCC staff and Department of Academic Advising regarding the Link Advising, Degree Works, LACES and other program technology tools in order to become a proficient user of these tools;
Collaborate with Mass Hire staff and attend additional trainings (if needed) to gain a greater understanding of the following tools utilized at the North Central Career Center:
TORQ online skills assessment tool.
Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field;
Three (3) years experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition; or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

2nd Position Monday-Wednesday- Thursday 3pm-9pm Number of Weeks: 35
