To support our research group we are searching for a highly motivated person to be hired in as a Research Technician. The research group of Dr. C.Yates, Department of Health Promotion and Development at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is mainly focused on the pathology related to wound healing.
The main task will be to assist scientists conducting their experiments in mouse cell transplantation models, cellular and molecular pathology. These include assisting in the execution of transplantation experiments, collection and purification of cells from skin, lung, and heart, routine tissue culture and flow cytometry, immunohistology, RT-PCR, and other molecular techniques. Another significant part will be the lab and project managment. We are searching for candidates with a Bachelor's degree who are excited about entering a career in science.
Experience in experimental procedures is required to successfully apply for this position. Training in all relevant procedures will be conducted by experienced scientists within the research group. Primary duties will include project management , performance of lab experiments with relative independence under the direction of the Principal Investigator, coordinating research activities in the lab, training in-coming lab personnel, assisting in care and handling of small animals, purchasing, as well as assisting with lab manuscripts and grants.
Baccalaureate degree in a relevant degree program or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Knowledge of research process and other ethical issues as they pertain to research Experience in routine wet laboratory procedures. Cell culture, RNA and DNA, data analysis. Strong computer skills.
