The Publications and Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the departmentâ™s publications (GÃ¡vea-Brown and 3 e-Journals), technology support, Web page creation and maintenance, digital and print design, marketing, and publicity, as well as shared administrative support for the department. Publications include several academic hard copy books and a bi-annual academic journal as well as a bi-annual electronic journal of Portuguese History. Technology and Web site responsibilities include serving as the departmental liaison in support of a secure and reliable computing environment that is aligned with CIS established standards and industry best practices. Web duties include creating new pages and maintaining the integrity and security of all web content and data used in populating the department web page.
Associateâ™s degree and 2-3 years of administrative and publications experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong organizational, administrative, time management and publication skills.
Initiative and judgment to independently problem solving and prioritize.
The ability to independently develop and implement short and long term goals.
Ability to work independently, but also a strong team member when the situation warrants.
Advanced reading knowledge of Portuguese, in addition to fluency in English. Fluency in Portuguese preferred.
Computer expertise and continued interest in maintaining skills.
Proficiency with Apple products, especially with regard to troubleshooting issues with common applications (Safari, Word, Excel, Adobe Reader, etc.).
Familiar with and proficient in working with departmental networking, especially between peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.) and Apple products within the department.
Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver the principal means for web editing for the departmental journals.
Comfortable with FTP clients (specifically WinSCP) and submitting to CIS-controlled directories for web publishing.
Familiarity with instructional technology, such as projection systems, Canvas, WordPress, Zoom, Google Suite, etc.
Working familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, the main tools utilized in various digital/print media projects (book design, web design, and poster design).
Produce best practices in diversity material, promoting inclusiveness.
Experience in working with diverse populations.
