The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the activities and ensuring the successful performance of the Brown Faculty Club and the Brown Dining catering division (sales & operations), including express catering and concessions. Effectively lead a team of managers by promoting a culture of collaboration, trust and accountability. The incumbent must maximize customer satisfaction by ensuring that menu offerings are varied, contemporary and on-trend; that food service is consistently of the highest quality; and offerings competitively priced.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Responsible for oversight of the Brown Faculty Club and Brown Catering operations to ensure the highest standards of food and service quality, operational efficiency, adherence to budget requirements, and customer/member satisfaction.
Work with operational staff and customer base to plan, manage and implement catering events
Develop and introduce new initiatives to increase Faculty Club membership and strengthen employee satisfaction â‹
Maximize customer satisfaction by ensuring that menu offerings are varied, contemporary and on-trend; that food and service is consistently of the highest quality; and that offerings are competitively priced. Develop and introduce new initiatives to optimize Faculty Club membership and Catering sales.
Effectively lead a team of managers by promoting a culture of collaboration, trust and accountability.
Ensure compliance with standards in all areas of operations, menu development, service quality, food safety and sanitation, and adherence to budget
Bachelorâ™s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, an Institutional Management, Food Service Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
MBA or related Masterâ™s degree is desirable
5-7 years of progressive professional experience in food service, restaurant/catering, or project management with increasingly higher levels of responsibilities. Academic institution experience is a plus
Demonstrated success in managing in a union environment
Thorough knowledge of catering foods and systems
Track record of successful collaboration and relationship building; ability to manage through others
Outstanding problem solving skills, ability to implement solutions
Excellent organizational skills, task prioritization and ability to juggle multiple projects
Dedication to the principles of being customer focused
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
