Provides leadership, and strategic direction for the Special Events. Works in collaboration with Project Managers to support the special opportunities that provide revenue to TNLA, offer education or assist in advocacy efforts within the state to members, non-members.
O Bid, analyze and select general contractor and other service contractors for events
O Negotiate facility contract terms in conjunction with the President; monitor the fulfillment terms such as payment, insurance, security requirements, etc.
O Plan and order all decorations for events, including signs, banners, as needed
O Assists with the development and implementation of the overall marketing plan for events
O Oversees room assignments, room sets, AV requirements and food service for events.
O Develop budgets, review bills and approve payments.
O Manages corporate sales for Nursery/Landscape EXPO including sponsorships. O Assists in development of printed material production and management.
O Provides leadership and strategic direction for the volunteer task forces that assist with projects where necessary.
O Maintains and reinforces Texas Nursery & Landscape Association brand utilization and integrity throughout the events.
O Management of other special projects, as needed.

Good organizational, administrative and communication skills. Not less than 4-5 years experience in event/meeting planning. Sales experience/sponsorship or booth sales a plus. Capable of developing new initiatives from concept through implementation. Very strong writing skills, verbal presentation skills and comfort level with job flexibility and multi-tasking. Computer skills a must. Proficient using Microsoft Office Products.
