The Legal Department of JPMorganChase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to theCorporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with theCorporation's lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structureencourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal,regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
The Office ofthe Secretary ("OTS") is a practice group within the LegalDepartment. OTS partners with senior management, control groups,lines of business and corporate units to promote effective governance of theFirm, its branches, subsidiaries, and affiliates. It operates through acorporate team and regional hubs, in New York City, London (for Europe, theMiddle East and Africa), and Hong Kong (for Asia Pacific). OTS alsoworks closely with the Firm's Board of Directors and is responsible for thecoordination of Board meetings and materials. OTS has responsibility forthe Firm's proxy statement as well as various other public filings andinterfaces regularly with JPMC's shareholders on governance matters. Inaddition, members of the practice group are involved in various industryinitiatives to consider best practices for the banking industry as a whole.
Position Overview OTS is looking for a bright,organized, and talented individual to fill an entry-level professional positionthat, for a high performer, offers significant opportunities for learning andprofessional development over time. The position will support seniorexecutives within OTS, and other members of the team, with a variety ofprofessional matters. Typical examples of this work include performingbasic research, collaboratively gathering information from around OTS and otherteams within the Firm, analyzing data (including the use of Excelspreadsheets), assisting with plans for the Firm's annual meeting ofshareholders, and preparing highest-quality presentation materials (includingPowerPoint decks) for audiences of senior executives and senior lawyers. The role includes interaction with various executive-level internal clientsacross lines of business (e.g, the Corporate& Investment Bank, Asset andWealth Management), corporate functions (e.g., Finance, Corporate Communications,Investor Relations), and regions. The duties require confidentiality,initiative, sound decision-making, independent judgment, and the ability torecognize and escalate serious or unique problems. The role also includessome administrative duties, particularly those types of administrative dutiestypically performed by analyst-level employees. These might includescheduling meetings and appointments, logistics coordination and management ofcertain projects, managing travel schedules, preparing electronic and hard-copydocuments, developing and maintaining electronic files, proofreading, andreserving conference rooms as necessary. The successful candidate musthave strong analytical and collaborative skills, be able to work independentlyand be a true "self starter."
2 years of relevant experience in a professional services role, such as a business analyst, paralegal, researcher, writer, or clerk.
