Develop and manage multiple long and short-term space planning projects for the University's academic, administrative, and residential units in accordance with the University's Space Planning and Design Guidelines. Assess client space and capital requests and work with clients to refine requests. Develop program statements for University clients. Create test fits, conceptual designs, and architectural diagrams for different planning scenarios. Assess proposed capital projects, including feasibility assessment, programming, and design. Coordinate project cost estimates and schedules. Preparing project scope materials for approval by University Leadership. Support a more sustainable approach to capital projects. Provide space planning and design support for internal and consultant led studies.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or other related field
Preferred Education: Advanced degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or other related field.
Required Experience: 5+ years of experience in Architecture, Urban Planning or other related field developing and coordinating space programs, feasibility studies, and managing projects involving multiple clients and consultants.
Preferred Experience: Experience programming and planning science research spaces or technical academic space. Experience planning in a University or large institutional or corporate setting. Experience with interior layouts and office planning. Experience developing construction budgets and schedules.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment. Ability to plan and manage a variety of projects, and to meet deadlines with a high attention to detail. Ability to work independently and to effectively utilize problem solving and negotiating skills with clients, senior management, and consultants. Knowledge of NYC building, zoning and other regulatory codes.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: NYS Registered Architect. LEED Credential. Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
