Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group's reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel .
Providing legal advice to Commercial Banking Business on legal issues arising out of their activities in Hong Kong, including advising on various products and services such as investment and insurance products, digital initiatives, contentious matters and debt recovery
Supporting the Regional Head of Commercial Banking Legal, including sharing best practices with Commercial Banking lawyers in the Asia Pacific region
Acting as risk manager in identifying and managing legal risks and reputational risks in Commercial Banking and advising senior management in Legal and businesses on those risks
Liaising and collaborating with Global Legal, Regional Legal and other lawyers in the Legal Function as required in relation to Commercial Banking businesses in the Asia Pacific region
Implementing Global Legal's and Asia Pacific Regional General Counsel's strategic plan and objectives, including effective management of legal costs and external law firms and building a sustainable and effective legal team
Hong Kong Qualified Lawyer
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Chinese writing and Cantonese speaking skills desirable
Solid in house experience and a good working knowledge of the laws impacting the provision of financial services and products
Ability to lead projects
Ability to work independently with the business
Strong ability to adapt and prioritize
Strong communication and inter personal skills
Lateral thinking and problem solving skills
