Bank Resource Management (BRM) executes centralized liability management for the Firm, in partnership with Corporate Treasury. BRM is positioned at the core of transaction flows to ensure proper and consistent allocation and pricing of resources across market facing businesses globally.
BRM principal responsibilities include:
Secured Funding execution and management
Client financing, Borrowing and Lending
Managing and hedging counterparty credit risk (XVA)
Collateral Management, Optimization and Trading
Centralized Clearing and Margin Optimization
Strategy planning and oversight
Sales and Marketing
Description of BRM Collateral Optimization Role:
BRM Business Collateral Optimization is a dedicated business area within BRM responsible overseeing Firm-wide collateral management, optimization and trading globally. The successful candidate will be based in London and be responsible for all collateral optimization activity in the EMEA Region. Critically, he/she will own and drive projects to improve Morgan Stanley's collateral business primarily by partnering with BRM globally, Sales and Trading, Operations, Technology, Legal and Finance ensuring the most optimal use of the firm's assets in line with liabilities, revenue targets and optimization objectives
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Optimally meeting all CCP, OTC and UMR margin requirements in region (and elsewhere in the Eastern Hemisphere)
Overseeing all collateral optimization for optimal P&L, Capital and Liquidity purposes
Generate new structure and trading opportunities to maximize revenue and minimize cost to the business
Thoroughly understand all collateral requirements and relevant rules across products, jurisdictions and asset classes
Managing relevant position risks and limits for P&L and PV01 within frameworks
Ownership of Triparty relationship management and act as key escalation contact where needed
Understanding the relevant financing rates for cash and securities in all markets covered
Drive process and technology improvements including developing proprietary optimization technology
Direct operations to execute collateral management strategy in line with the business goals
Develop/implement and maintain daily, weekly and monthly metrics where required
Attend conferences/industry forums as collateral management subject matter expert
Analyze market for new product or strategic approaches
Extensive background in collateral management, optimization and secured financing is required
Trading experience is required
An understanding of key regulatory requirements and frameworks across the financing markets
Understanding of Fixed Income and Equity based asset classes and their relevant financing rates within the markets
A core competency in project management and product delivery
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skill
