The communications opportunities and challenges at Harvard Business School (HBS) reflect the growth and complexity of the institution. HBS is a global brand with a wide range of internal and external audiences. The Communications Office is the social media leader for the university, the hub for media outreach and activity, and the center for internal communications to students, faculty and staff on a variety of school-wide matters. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with the team's Social Media Manager and the Senior Communications Specialist to support social media, public relations and internal communications activities. They will be asked to promote both the work of the faculty and also life at HBS, including student and staff activities, to both external and internal audiences. The Communications Specialist will support all of the school's central social media channels, assist with media outreach and responding to inquiries, and the creation of internal communications content and vehicles.
Main responsibilities include:
Assist with social media community management including responding to inbound queries, monitoring social walls and suggesting content to re-share
Assist with social media content creation
Assist with live social coverage of events and activities on campus as needed
Upload and maintain video metadata for channels including Kaltura and YouTube
Help to update and maintain HBS social media website featuring all the social channels for the school
Assist with photography for social media including documenting new perspectives of campus and creating visuals for non-visual content
Management of the externally facing HBS Newsroom, including posting of content
Media monitoring and coverage report creation
Assist with content creation for school-wide internal newsletter and intranet Assist in gathering and editing content for the myHBS Intranet
Serving as first point of contact for inbound media inquiries and acting as onsite liason for media and television crews
General communications-related administrative duties, including managing media lists and online subscriptions

3 years experience required preferably in public relations and social media.
Content creation and publication experience.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Must be flexible and able to respond to unanticipated projects and assignments.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Experience with social media and other emerging media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)
Understanding of academic institutions/environments a plus.
Basic Adobe Photoshop and HTML are a plus, but can train.
