We are seeking a Senior Manager, Professional Development & Recruiting. This is a newly created position and is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to design and deliver next-level programming and processes.
This highly visible position provides leadership and strategic direction for the firm’s Professional Development and Recruiting programs. The Senior Manager will work with the CHRO and Practice Group Leaders to design, develop, implement, and evaluate programs that maximize the firm’s ability to attract, train, develop, and retain top talent in the area of Intellectual Property law. This role includes oversight of the firm’s legal and staff recruiting programs as well as professional development for both legal and staff professionals.
How will you make an impact?
Design, develop, lead and evaluate the implementation of the firm's professional development strategy for timekeepers and staff.
Design strategy for the recruitment and selection of all employees, providing direction and oversight to recruitment team. Identify progressive strategies to attract top talent to the firm.
Oversee onboarding and integration process for timekeepers and support staff, and follow-up regarding integration process. Regularly evaluate and update process making use of best in class tools to improve onboarding and integration process.
Implement and update competency models and benchmarks for use in performance reviews and career progression of timekeepers. Work with practice group leaders and advisors to maximize understanding and use of career progression tools.
Working with internal and external training professionals, identify learning needs and provide programs to ensure timekeepers and staff are provided the tools and process understanding to be effective professionals.
Oversee Continuing Legal Education application and tracking.
Provide assistance with diversity and inclusion programs and help ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Provide coaching to associates and directors, facilitating individual development plans and identifying outside resources to enhance timekeeper development.
Facilitate Associate Liaison Committee, using liaisons to improve two-way communication between Directors and Associates.
Develop and maintain Mentoring programs that increase transfer of knowledge and development for timekeepers and support staff.
Develop and lead evaluation strategy for timekeepers and staff, overseeing work of coordinators in execution of evaluation processes.
Plan and organize timekeeper retreat agendas.
Provide direction and coaching to recruiting professionals, professional development coordinator, and training specialists executing on key talent processes.
What will you bring to the role?
8+ years’ experience in Talent Management/Professional Development capability. Experience in legal industry strongly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in development, inside and outside the industry. Advanced degree or certification in relevant fields of study preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams of both direct and indirect reports.
Ability to effectively collaborate and influence at all levels within the firm.
Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills, good judgment, flexibility and the ability to work with little supervision.
Understanding of adult learning theories and able to leverage digital technology
Must be able to manage projects, prioritize workload and solve problems quickly.
Strong computer skills required, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and familiarity of learning/performance management software.
