The School of General Studies, Dean of Students office is looking for someone to be part of their team. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Student Services the incumbent ensures various levels of administrative support are provide to the Academic Resource Center and Dean of Students Office. The incumbent will ensure the execution of all tasks necessary for the effective delivery of ARC services. The incumbent will ensure proper processing of a range of essential functions including, but not limited to corrective academic actions, major declarations, incomplete/deferred exams and graduation clearance. Through collaboration with both the director and the broader operations and information systems team, the incumbent will identify, lead and execute projects that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the entire student service portfolio.
a) ARC Support: The incumbent serves as a primary overseer of administrative processes for the ARC, including but not limited to: guide the work of ARC tutors and desk attendants, Peer Advisors, Postbac Peer Advisors, placement exam proctors, reading coaches, and other students employed by the ARC.
b) Serves as a project team member aimed at implementing technology and policy to improve processes and student operations. Effectively communicates with stakeholders to ensure project deliverables align with expectations and project goals are achieved in a timely fashion.
c) Documentation: Create and maintain excellent documentation in support of the proper execution and ongoing training on internal policies and procedures. Meticulously update project documentation, project management information system as well as student database applications.
d) Change Management: Continuously identify, evaluate and execute positive operational improvements adhering to established procedures to mitigate the risks and assist academic deans with providing
High school or the equivalent required. Receptionist, data entry and PC experience required. Some college preferred. Three years related experience required. Ability to handle a variety of simultaneous activities, attention to detail, and ability to follow through a must. Ability to learn understand and utilize various technological applications. Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required. Familiarity with Columbia University's Student Information System (SIS) and the policies of the School of General Studies highly desirable.
