Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. Ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information through the refinement and implementation of an information literacy curriculum that integrated into the larger school curriculum
Empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
Collaborating with classroom teachers and resource specialists to leverage media and technology in thedesign and implementation of lessons and units of instruction, and assessing student learning and instructional effectiveness.
Providing the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program.
Creating an environment that is inviting, conducive to active and participatory learning, and provides support and resources for students and teachers.
Librarian for grades 6 – 12, teaching information literacy, digital citizenship and research skills lessons, conducting book chats, presenting authors and providing special programming events.
Developing web-based resources and co-teaches in classrooms to launch research projects and support meaningful technology integration.
Managing Library Department budget.
Purchasing, cataloging, and circulating ~12,000-volume multimedia materials collection.
Acquiring and maintaining library database software, online resources, and desktop and mobile devices.
Coordinating all textbook acquisitions for grades 9 through 12.
Works closely with the technology department to support the school’s 1-1 device program
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in library or media science, or related education field. Teaching experience and instructional technology implementation preferred.

Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents

Connelly School of the Holy Child Founded in 1961 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus as a college preparatory school for girls grade 6-12. The school is part of a network of 33 Holy Child schools in the United States, Europe and Africa, which is guided by the educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly. Holy Child enrolls approximately 300 students every year from the Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as across the globe. Holy Child creates a personal learning experience with an 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio and offers fine arts programs as well as competitive sports teams in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cross country lacrosse and more.
Service is part of the Holy Child curriculum and students last year completed 5,000 hours of community service.
