Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Compensation Analyst for University Human Resources. The Senior Compensation Analyst works with the Director of Compensation to perform the following duties. The Senior Compensation Analyst also serves as a subject matter expert and mentor for all compensatory related actions. This position partners with the Director of Compensation to create detailed project plans outlining areas for improvement to build consistency across the University.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Collapse and create a new job code design for all University positions.
Participates in compensation system design, development, platform dashboard and testing.
Compiles complex data and summarizes into clear concise presentations for management to make decisions in order for project plans to move forward. Identify potential cost impact when necessary.
Leads compensation system educational training for the University partners, leaders and HR Business Partners.
Conducts data transfer audits from all source systems to ensure accuracy when changing applications.
Prepares management reporting to assist with identifying current challenges and proposing recommendation for future state.
Partners with HRIS to develop and generate compensation reports for audit tracking and to ensure accuracy of compensation data.
Proactive partner with all levels of management to identify areas of improvement and closing communication gaps.
Partners with Office of Labor Relations (OLR) to ensure we are compliant with bargaining unit agreements as it relates to compensatory actions.
Partners with the HR Generalist and the department leaders to ensure we are compliant as it relates to compensation policies, guidelines and procedures.
Select appropriate survey sources for data reliability, relevance and reputation.
Participates in annual salary compensation surveys. Analyzes results of surveys to determine their impact. Makes recommendations as necessary.
Participate in Spot Surveys from other like institutions.
Evaluate external market data and compare to current salary structures to make recommendations on salary structure movement projections.
Monitoring the job evaluation process to analyze job content, focusing on responsibilities, required skills & knowledge level needed to fulfill the position and determine appropriate grade level within the University compensation structure based on external competitiveness and internal compare across the University for a holistic view.
Serve as a support link to our University partners and the HR Business Partners in reviewing, creating and revising job descriptions.
Responsible for the FLSA exemption classifications for all approved job descriptions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field. In lieu of degree, ten years of direct compensatory experience may be substituted.
Five – Seven years of experience in Compensation practices: compensation programs, job evaluation, market pricing methodology, compensation modeling and advanced analytics and project management preferably in a higher education and/or healthcare environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess applicable knowledge in federal and state regulatory requirements.
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, and to manage conflict and highly complex situations and relationships are essential.
Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
Ability to deliver creative solutions and be a critical thinker.
A consultative relationship with management at all levels.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Must possess advanced Microsoft and analytical skills to understand and apply research and statistics in report writing and the ability to deliver creative solutions.
Organizational skills are used to manage records and data, and meet deadlines.
Solid understanding of HR systems – PeopleSoft and vendor survey systems.
Partners with the HR Business Partners and Department/Unit Managers for all compensatory actions.
Strong attention to detail
Advanced degree in related field.
Knowledge of Bargaining Unions, working in higher education or healthcare.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
One year of healthcare experience preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
No special vision requirements.
Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
