The Office of Prospect Development (OPD) gathers and analyzes information on, and facilitates and tracks communication with, the university's current and potential prospects and donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations. OPD is primarily responsible for one of UA's key strategic priorities: the expansion of the university's base of support, which complements the other fundamental priorities of building relationships and raising funds. OPD addresses this need by conducting sophisticated research and analysis, identifying new prospects, and managing the processes of assigning the most promising prospects to development officer portfolios and assessing portfolio performance. OPD is also responsible for maintaining current and accurate information on all prospects and ensuring the Advance database represents UA's full knowledge of prospect-related activity.
The Assistant Director has the primary responsibilities to help maintain the prospect management elements of the Advancement division's database, ensure that prospect management policies and procedures are updated and understood and to provide frontline units prospect management information to help strategically guide their fundraising efforts.
This position will also manage prospect management strategy and process for two to three specific schools, leading regular meetings with school directors and development officers and advising on prospect strategy and identification with the goal of maximizing donor potential, strategically aligning prospect interests with school's fundraising needs, and providing analysis that supports intelligent decision making on donor lifecycle management.
The position plays a lead role in the design, development and provision of timely and effective reporting and analysis tools to support prospect management across the division including reporting for senior fundraising management and campaign strategy purposes. They will also lead on several key data projects such as regular wealth screening of donors, prospect pool clean-up projects and portfolio development. This position will assist the associate director in general prospect management tasks, including but not limited to data entry, data integrity reviews and development of prospect management policies.
3-5 years of related experience
Knowledge and experience in prospect research, management or related area of advancement
Good research and analytical skills
Good writing and communication skills
Knowledge of fundraising related aspects of a research university is highly desired.
Experience using complex databases (Advance)
Proven skills in understanding, analyzing and synthesizing high volumes of information and producing actionable results for gift officers.
Demonstrated project management skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet frequent deadlines.
Proficiency in office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Collaborate successful with many different types of people.
