This new role is an opportunity to help lead the transformation of tax reporting and data analytics with a dual focus on process automation and data-driven business decisions. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Excel with solid program coding skills (SQL or equivalent), project management, tax reporting systems (CORPTAX, HTP, OneSource, or equivalent), fixed asset systems (BNA, other), and financial systems (Hyperion Essbase, HFM, and Oracle ERP). The role will design, collect, protect, and analyze data by automating processes, maintaining databases, and creating online forms and reports. The position offers an opportunity to gain broad tax, finance, and business experience while driving innovation and helping advance Alcoa’s tax department toward a more technology-enabled future.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
Promote a data focused culture which emphasizes capture and use of data to improve decisions and efficiency
Design and implement online forms (via Sharepoint) used for data collection and data processing
Manage data collection to create process efficiencies
Consolidate data across multiple sources and databases to make it easier to locate and access
Develop financial dashboards and visualization tools to support business decisions
Develop advanced analytics and models to help identify opportunities and solve complex problems
Provide support to the federal, state and international tax reporting functions, including income tax accounting and forecasting, tax compliance, and transfer pricing
Work with cross-functional teams to support robust financial analysis and modeling
Communicate ideas via reports and presentations
Lead projects to improve automation and efficiency of tax processes across the tax department
Work as part of a collaborative team of professionals using strong interpersonal skills
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced Excel and other modeling skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Highly motivated and organized
Project management skills, attention to detail, ability to drive work and process improvements
Experience in corporate tax systems and processing
Knowledge of multiple programming languages and ability to make data storage processes work more efficiently
Sincere interest in and intellectual curiosity about domestic and international tax processes, procedures and regulations
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field of study
1 – 3 years of experience in quantitative analysis, including working with large data
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
University-level coursework in accounting, business or finance
Experience using tax reporting systems
Strong process design experience
