The Senior Manager, Clinical Program Development: Institutional Clinical Education is a position that connects AWHONN content and services to institutional and/or group purchasers. The position responsibilities include assisting to develop strategies with focus on identifying services and content that is utilized to meet the clinical education needs of institutional customers. This individual demonstrates abilities for connecting and interfacing with external and internal stakeholders, including education, technology, marketing, and sales teams, to ensure successful delivery and implementation of AWHONN clinical education solutions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Institutional Clinical Education Development
Investigate areas of need through fact-based market and customer insights research. Find new opportunities within the AWHONN market sectors that has the potential to increase revenue growth nationwide, as well as novel approaches to worldwide utilization.
Assist in the creation of business cases for clinical education innovations, including cross-platform opportunities.
Assist in evaluation of growth opportunities to identify clinical needs, evaluate market size and optimal segmentation, assist the Sales Team to assess customer investment incentive and adoption, identify regulatory pathways, assess current competitive threats to program development.
Closely partner with Education and Marketing teams and to explore product concept design options and to assess technical development and dissemination feasibility.
Build comprehensive business cases for new areas of opportunity to include financial, commercial, regulatory and operational details.
Continuing Nursing Education
Participates in assessing clinical program needs of AWHONN members and groups to improve the care of women and newborns.
Serves as a Nurse Planner and member of the AWHONN Provider Unit
Participates in evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of AWHONN programs, products and services.
Offers consultation for the development, dissemination and evaluation of obstetrical and neonatal-related evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, implementation toolkits, and other products that offer innovative strategies to institutions and group purchases.
Maintains expertise in educational design and adult learning theories, assumes responsibility for implementing accreditation criteria for selected educational activities.
Serves as clinical/organizational liaison to identified organizations as requested.
Keeps abreast of current clinical issues and research for continuing professional development, and integrates relevant findings and information as applicable for program development.
Performs other duties as required.
Provide ongoing professional mentoring within the organization, assist in expansion of learning, translation of clinical expertise to non-clinical staff, provide tools to help build knowledge, skills, and growth capacity. Serve as a resource for staff colleagues. Promote positive work environment for all staff and effectively collaborate with leadership team.
Works independently under the guidance of the Senior Director of Learning Development. Receives guidance on clarification and interpretation of policies of the organization. Work is occasionally reviewed while in progress and/or upon completion.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in nursing and relevant graduate degree required.
Current, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse.
Experience as a Clinical Educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist and/or Nurse Planner highly desirable
At least ten years of recent clinical experience in obstetric or neonatal nursing (both highly desirable).
Experience in quality improvement activities strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Experience in innovative educational program design, implementation and evaluation in an association setting highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and manage multiple priorities often under tight timelines.
Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated skill with attention to detail, quality and accuracy of output.
Demonstrated computer skills required, preferably using Microsoft Office Suites applications.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and will be required to adhere to AWHONN’s Telecommuter Policy. This individual will be expected to travel to AWHONN headquarters in Washington, DC annually and more frequently as necessary for business purposes.
