Responsibilities: Perform design, data modeling, implementation, and maintenance of data marts and data warehouses through integrating various data sources into a rational data model and semantic layer. Design, build, and support complex data marts; integrate a continuously growing set of disparate data sources; and establish relationships among data sources to identify trends. Scale and adapt data warehouse architecture and data models to meet developer and front-end requirements. Support the development of front-end dashboards and reports. Further the management and optimization of interfaces involving various technologies, including simple extracts and loads, complex mappings, live feeds, and other web services to and from systems. Install and maintain server software on University Data Warehouse environments, including SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Master Data Services (MDS), etc. Plan and refine hardware/software requirements for University Data Warehouse platform. Monitor servers’ daily operation. Review and deploy database code. Define and monitor security implementation for database administration. Profile data to be included in data warehouses. Help establish data quality metrics, and build the infrastructure to clean and monitor incoming data. Define and develop a variety of data models to address different business needs. Analyze business systems and processes involving various degrees of documentation and user interaction. Identify and document user goals, and establish metrics to meet those goals. Design and build models to address relational, dimensional, longitudinal, and real time business needs. Build technical documentation on data models. Transform and aggregate data from a variety of source systems, including reference, biographical, financial, and medical ones. Define procedures to address duplicate and missing information. Provide users with the ability to map values and define lineage rules. Identify and implement a variety of approaches to data extraction: flat files, replication, linked servers, change tracking, XML imports, etc. Define and develop a variety of online analytical processing (OLAP) data models at the logical and physical level to address different business needs. Design and build online transaction processing (OLTP) models to address relational, dimensional, longitudinal, and real-time business needs. Use ETL (extract, transform and load) tools, data modeling, and data integration techniques to design ETL solutions for data migration and integration. Solve complex technical problems involving relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL), ETL tools, and data integration. Optimize performance of business intelligence tools from the database to the semantic layer. Develop testing and quality assurance procedures to ensure high quality data and business intelligence results. Develop reports and dashboards with contemporary business intelligence software tools. Inform capacity planning activities in data warehouse and related analytical platforms. Work with project managers to understand and prioritize data and information needs. Collaborate with developers and end-users to understand requirements and, specifically, how the desired products and deliverables drive the system architecture and data model. Serve as the technical leader on complex integration and business intelligence projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, Physics or a related field, and six (6) years of related work experience with computer systems and applications.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of experience, employer will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Physics or a related field, and four (4) years of related work experience with computer systems and applications.
In either case, related work experience must include four (4) years of experience with each of the following:
Relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL);
Online transaction processing (OLTP);
Online analytical processing (OLAP) data modeling at the logical and physical level;
Extract, transform and load (ETL) tools, data modeling, and data integration techniques; and
All experience may be concurrent.
Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception.
