The Sexual Health Navigator will be responsible for sexual health navigation services provision activities that increase sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment navigation and enhance linkage to and uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as part of a 2.5-year demonstration project, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, intended to increase PrEP uptake in Allegheny County (PA) among populations most at risk for HIV infection.
Responsibilities include sexual health navigation, including STI treatment and PrEP navigation; intervention implementation; quantitative and qualitative data collection; and recruitment and retention.
Additional responsibilities include conferring with researchers, faculty and representatives of state (Department of Health) and federal (CDC) granting agencies concerning research and practice needs and methods; frequent consultation with Project Director and Principal Investigators; compliance with grant requirements and human subjects protections; and contributing to written reports, publications, and presentations.
Master's Degree in public health or related field. Experience conducting HIV prevention interventions and research activities with the target populations, including sexual and gender minority people; people involved in transactional sex; incarcerated people; and people with psychosocial morbidities such as substance use. Strong knowledge base of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and social and behavioral risks are required. Required research skills include qualitative data collection and reporting; quantitative data collection and recording. Expertise in community relations and strong interpersonal skills required.
