Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Admissions Office for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions – NB. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions/Enrollment Management. This position has a focus on graphic design and works with the team to develop, design and execute marketing materials, which incorporate the communication needs of a variety of internal and external audiences.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Identifies new design trends and content delivery options (including the website, emails, and mobile) for marketing assets and messages.
Consistently designs marketing assets, which are on-brand and follow Rutgers and Admissions branding guidelines at all times.
Collaborates with all departments within admissions to develop creative by given deadlines, always demonstrating expertise in the area of design and production of print and digital assets. Types of design elements include, but are not limited to print, social, email, and web assets.
Ensures design elements resonate with and are tailored to specific audiences, such as prospective students, school counselors, parents, etc.
Responsible for ensuring the developed projects for each application cycle are executed on time by working with external print vendors, agencies and the Marketing and Communications Team.
Manages graphic design staff, focusing not only on project design and execution, but on their professional development, as well.
Responsible for a full range of recruitment activities, including representing the university at high schools and college fairs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an admissions or marketing/design capacity
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Finely-honed writing ability
Individual should be highly motivated and imaginative, with the ability to handle considerable and varied responsibilities; have outstanding organization, writing and presentation/speaking skills; the ability to work well individually as well as on a team; represent the university enthusiastically
Must understand the communication needs of a variety of external constituencies
Great collaborator and open to constructive feedback
Outside the box thinker and extremely creative
Ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines
Experience designing for the high school student demographic
Expertise in not only designing for web and mobile, but for direct mail and print
Provides great customer service, transparency and collaboration throughout all endeavors
Prior experience designing for high school student population is preferred.
Prior experience managing a design team
HTML knowledge a plus
Knowledge designing animate assets such as GIFs a plus
Should have expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Able to work nights and weekends as needed.
Travel for work purposes may be required.
