This position is responsible for supporting the recruitment of prospective students to UMD through email communication and management, website management, and digital marketing.
DUTIES: EMAIL MANAGEMENT (40%)
In collaboration with the marketing team, assist with HTML email content including: written copy, subject lines, preview text, call to action (CTA), etc.;
Utilize email templates and HTML coding for email design, format, and layout;
Oversee the development of email workflows to engage stakeholders;
Optimize email communication and email experience for desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences;
Assist with email analytics tracking, A/B testing, and comparing email measures against industry standards and benchmarks, such as open, clickthrough, and unsubscribe rates;
Coordinate with campus partners and stakeholders for email planning and communication;
Assist with managing email service provider (ESP) and consumer relations management (CRM) software;
Document processes, and use email checklist for maintaining consistency and best practice;
Assist with selecting target populations for email communication to ensure the right message, at the right time, to the right population;
Assist UMD offices in special services or programs designed to interact with underrepresented populations and coordinate contact with prospective students to assure a unified and seamless presentation of UMD programs, services, and opportunities.
WEB MANAGEMENT (30%)
Update and maintain Office of Admissions web pages;
Troubleshoot and address web related issues;
Coordinate and work with technical staff as needed to resolve issues;
Ensure the use of marketing language and current branding across the website;
In collaboration with marketing team, provide semiannual to annual updates to website;
Analyze analytics and data related to web page traffic to ensure a seamless user experience for visitors.
DIGITAL MARKETING (15%)
Manage Office of Admissions Google AdWords account and campaigns;
Adjust strategies/tactics, etc. based on current institutional and office goals;
Manage and update third party profile pages such as Common Application, Cappex, Niche, Hobsons, etc.;
Manage mass text communication. Develop copy, assist with developing targeted population, and send text.
DATA COLLECTION/EVALUATION & REPORTING (10%)
Evaluate data, assess progress/results, campaign success, and prepare recommendations to better align goals with resources;
Ensure compliance of recruiting initiatives with UMD policies and procedures and with professional affiliations and good practices.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5%)
As assigned, assist with daily office responsibilities
Assist as needed with on-campus visit programming. To include: Admitted Student Days, Campus Preview Programs, and Prospective Student Visit Days, etc
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Art or related field or 4 years of combined equivalent education and experience.
Experience with Pardot email service provider or similar system;
Experience with copywriting for high volume email distribution lists;
Experience with Drupal content management system or similar web publishing system;
Experience with Google Analytics and Google AdWords;
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Excellent proofreading and editing skills;
Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to analyze and use data to guide work;
Experience with Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
