Position Summary and Responsibilities Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Finance and Administration is the chief financial officer of the College, ensuring consistent excellence in the execution of Vassar's financial and business affairs by serving as a key steward of its assets, managing risk carefully, and providing wise, timely financial counsel. The Vice President works closely with the President as a member of the senior leadership team and is highly visible to the College's Board of Trustees, with four Board committees staffed by Finance and Administration. Supported by three senior managers (in Budget/Finance, Accounting Services, and Facilities Operations), the Vice President oversees the activities of approximately 180 administrators and staff.
The Vice President is responsible for accounting services, operating and capital budgeting, facilities operations (including capital project management), contracts, risk management and insurance, investments, cash management, purchasing, and ancillary businesses, including for example the college store and Inn. The 1,000-acre Vassar campus has more than 50 major buildings; the Vassar endowment stands at just over $1 billion; and the annual operating budget is over $180 million.
Qualifications Successful candidates will have at least seven to ten years of previous relevant work experience. Master's degree in business or related field preferred.
