The Department of Landscape Architecture at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a full-time, 10-month non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position at the Instructor level. This academic year position in Digital Design and Construction focuses on advanced computational processes for landscape design and planning including computational modeling, visualization, interactive systems, digital fabrication, experimental media and how they are linked to construction techniques. This is an academic year position that will be based in the Department of Landscape Architecture and is intended to build stronger connections with Fine Arts, Urban Planning, Human Ecology and other related disciplines. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate seminars, lecture courses, and design studio. The successful candidate will play an active role in directing undergraduate and graduate student research. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in departmental and university committees and assist in undergraduate and graduate curriculum development.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge and engagement with landscape architecture and/or environmental planning as disciplines and professions. A multi-disciplinary perspective is considered an asset, with an advanced terminal degree in landscape architecture, architecture, computational design, planning, or other pertinent field. Teaching experience is greatly valued. Areas of specialty should focus on the nexus between creative design process, data-driven responsible design and community outreach. A record of creative design and professional accomplishments the field of design computing and construction is required. A high degree of versatility and a background in interdisciplinary activity are important in this position
