Germantown Friends School is seeking a Website and Digital Communications Specialist, who will create and oversee the structural framework and implementation of strategic communications spanning web, social media, and email in order to foster greater engagement and amplify the GFS program. This individual must have proven experience in developing, executing, and tracking multi-channel campaigns, targeting various audiences. The Specialist will regularly audit GFS digital content and develop strategies, production timelines, and asset requirements to keep content fresh and timely.
As part of the Advancement Department, the Communications and Marketing team works closely with Development and Admissions, as well as school leadership, colleagues across campus, and volunteers to support the school’s mission, engage the community, attract prospective families, and raise funds for programmatic, endowment, and capital priorities.
We are looking for a strategic writer, project manager, and digital strategist, who has a passion for forward-thinking digital communications strategies.
Develop and manage website strategy and content
Serve as website producer; ensuring consistency of website content and strategy across digital properties; suggest upgrades and work with vendors as needed
Oversee website policy development, monitoring, metrics, and reporting
Define and manage SEO/SEM strategies
Along with the Director of Communications and Marketing, execute an integrated social media strategy to support school communication goals across channels
Create and manage content including text, photos, and video; train other content contributors, as appropriate
Coordinate strategy and contributions across GFS departments
Monitor trends in social media and applications and recommend improvements
Manage day-to-day organic social media engagement strategy and tactical implementation across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram
Identify opportunities to increase social media engagement and increase followers across all social platforms and identify creative ways to use social media
Cover key school events (requires occasional evening and weekend duties)
Email Program Execution:
Implement GFS email marketing efforts including weekly Parent Press, Alumni e-newsletters and other fundraising cultivation and appeal emails
Curate high-quality content for e-newsletter and manage streamlined production process
Develop and manage multi-channel digital campaign calendar, partnering closely with colleagues in Academics, Admissions, and Advancement Departments
Develop digital cultivation and fundraising programs and strategies and work to ensure marketing tactics are implemented on time and within budget
Develop monthly metrics and reports and update strategies based on data
Establish a consistent, accessible and appealing voice for digital channels (social and web) in line with school’s verbal identity
Create and manage a digital editorial calendar in line with strategic communications goals
Serve as key point of contact for web and email vendors (e.g. Finalsite, Veracross)
Research and recommend features, functions, and solutions to create compelling digital content that enhances GFS’ ability to reach and engage a broader constituency
Develop and manage metrics reporting and analysis of the website performance and online communications efforts

Bachelor’s degree required
Three-years minimum experience
Experience with content management and database systems
A strong writing and copy editing background with the ability to develop compelling key messages
Proven project management and collaboration skills
Experience in social media management
Design experienced preferred; understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator a plus
