Job Summary: The Chief of Staff (COS) reports directly to the Vice Chancellor, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and is a member of the Vice Chancellor's leadership team. Acts for the Vice Chancellor in their absence.
This position is supports the Vice Chancellor with cross cutting organizational initiatives, resource allocation and coordination. The incumbent manages, advocates and implements campuswide initiatives that emerge from the division and have broad campus impact. Oversees divisional financial, physical and human resources management, as well as communications by working closely with the operational unit leaders. Accountable with other senior leaders to advance divisional priorities including advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion.
In addition, manages administrative units to include the Vice Chancellor's office, which provides financial, HR and program analysis as well as administrative support to leadership, May oversee other administrative functions as necessary.
The COS provides advice to the Vice Chancellor and their senior leadership to develop overall divisional strategic planning efforts, with direct responsibility for strategic advancement of initiatives. Advises and provides analytical support and leadership on a variety of projects of importance to the Vice Chancellor, many of which contain a high degree of confidentiality of privileged information requiring tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, discretion, and flexibility.
Working with numerous constituents throughout the campus, the AVC is responsible to ensure that programs, services and resources are effectively managed and compliment with the academic mission of the campus.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 10 or more years experience (including 5 years or more of supervisor/manager experience) in diversity, equity, and inclusion within a large, complex environment
Demonstrated leadership and the ability to influence outcomes through collaboration and partnership.
Demonstrated use of political acumen to navigate sensitive circumstances involving all organizational levels and confidential information.
Demonstrated experience with project management
Demonstrated ability to apply strategic planning principles; ability to design and facilitate dynamic organizational change to meet the evolving needs of the campus.
Analytical skills to make sound judgments and be accountable for decisions in a variety of complex circumstances and subjects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences and varied constituencies to solicit constructive input, develop consensus, and cultivate constructive collaborations among multiple campus departments and community groups. ____________________________________________________
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in a related field.
Experience in the management of financial and budgetary planning including designing, implementing and managing systems of internal control, personnel and operating policy.
