The Content Specialist is responsible for researching, interviewing, and writing highly effective, creative and engaging marketing content and communications that will reinforce the Division for Diversity and Inclusion's brand image. This person will have the ability to brainstorm, create and transform ideas into engaging and lively content. They will conceptualize and write stories that feature division events, students, faculty, staff and alumni for produced publications and media. They are also responsible for establishing a positive social media presence that enhances the Division's brand and supports its strategic priorities. This position reports to the Senior Director of Operations.
Create content in support of promoting events/programs to ensure consistency in brand messages. Deliverables include but are not limited to:
Proactively monitoring the website to ensure accuracy and provide content as needed.
Producing the Division of Diversity & Inclusion Monthly newsletter
Develop draft of publication calendar annually for review
Keep publication calendar up to date at all times
Development and delivery of monthly newsletter articles
Assist the Senior Director of Operations in developing the Division of Diversity & Inclusion annual report (Tiger Imprint Showcase)
Creating promotional literature about new programs, services, and initiatives.
Creating and developing all other print and digital communication pieces as requested.
Provide writing and editing support for web and digital communications, publications, advertising, marketing materials and other projects.
Research and organize information from a variety of sources and accurately communicate in written form to a variety of audiences.
Write clear, persuasive, original copy.
Create new copy or edits existing copy quickly and cleanly based on the job specifications.
Amend, revise or re-develop materials in response to feedback from team members.
All project deliverables will be executed according to brand tone and copy guidelines as set by the University Marketing and Communications Division.
Social Media: Establish a positive social media presence that enhances the division's brand and supports its strategic priorities by:
Researching, writing and creating content for divisional social media platforms.
Develop, and schedule daily content for social media channels using social media content management tool (for Facebook, Twitter, and others).
Optimize content streams to engage with target audiences.
Monitor, report, and act upon social media analytics to continually improve divisional presence.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Min 3-5 years professional experience in business, industry, or higher education.
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, which includes: ability to break down complex ideas into simple concepts while telling a concise yet compelling story.
Can craft headlines, subject lines and calls-to-action that capture attention and motivate action.
The ability to get into the mindset of our target audience and understand what drives them to make decisions.
Detail-oriented with high standards for quality, relevance and consistency of content.
Proven ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to work on multiple projects at once, sometimes under pressure with tight deadlines.
Excellent writing, editing and communication skills
Ability to work with diverse individuals at all organizational levels
Ability to multi-task effectively while meeting competing deadlines
