Leads employer development activities broadly for the Career Services Network in conjunction with The Center at the College of Engineering, the Russell Palmer Career Management Center in the College of Business, The Graduate School, and all colleges represented by Career Consultants.Develops operational policies and procedures, long and short term planning.Directs job search and professional preparation programs for students.Leads team to accomplish goals, assess effectiveness, and implement improvements.
Develops and implements career services that assist students in attaining competitive placement upon graduation.
Primary responsibility for maintaining and expanding relationships with employers recruiting MSU graduates, as well as formulating strategies to assist them in meeting recruitment goals.
In conjunction with Corporate Foundations and Relations office, plans and facilitates on- and off-campus employer visits to connect faculty, administration and student groups with employers.
Coordinates with Deans, Chairs and Faculty to report recruitment trends and employer recruitment strategies.
Assists Executive Director of Career Services with campus-wide Destination Survey initiative to capture post-graduation outcomes data.
Guides creation of marketing plans to increase awareness of professional preparation programs.
Collects and analyzes data to determine employer relations strategy.
Collaborates with Corporate and Foundation Relations to fundraise for Career Services Network.
Prepares letters, brochures, articles and reports, and delivers presentations about career services to constituents.
Leads Employer Relations work group.
Supervises full time staff of Career Services @ the Stadium.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a Master's degree in education, business, human resources, or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in counseling/advising, and public speaking; familiarity with budgets, project management and supervision techniques; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience teaching, coaching or training; exceptional public speaking skills and ability to motivate others; relationship cultivation and management abilities and demonstrated collaborative skills; experience working with technology solutions and innovations; experience working with diverse student populations and an energetic commitment to student success; experience managing employer relations and measuring outcomes; established success in fundraising; excellent communication, grammar, writing and editing skills; demonstrated behavior competencies: achieving results, building trust, effective interpersonal communication, job/organizational knowledge, excellent problem solving/judgment, productivity, commitment to continuous quality/process improvement, initiative/leadership, encourages teamwork/cooperation, and ability to lead change. Must be prepared to travel up to 30 days outside of the office.
