Provide leadership to the Institute’s Finance & Accounting team
Responsible for interacting with all organizational levels within, and external, to the Institute to ensure finance and accounting functions are effectively managed to support the strategic objectives and growth of the Institute.
Implements and administers financial systems including accounting, reporting, and expense systems including troubleshooting integration and general use issues. Creates and modifies reports to provide speed and efficiency in reporting and analyzing information as well as trains and instructs others on use of the systems.
Manage the annual external audit, acting as primary liaison with the external auditors, ensuring all necessary reconciliations, schedules, and analytics are prepared upon the arrival of the auditors, and providing needed schedules and documents for audit purposes.
Manage tax and regulatory filings including, but not limited to the IRS Form 990.
Manage the process for the monthly and annual close of the financial statements in a timely manner
Develop, implement and manage a cash management and cash forecasting process.
Develop and document controls, policies and procedures that meet or exceed industry best practices.
Assist with the annual budget and semi-annual forecast. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with the budget owners to build the budget and update the forecasts
Prepare budget and forecast reports using the Institute’s budget software
Manage the bi-weekly payroll responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensure that timesheets are completed by all staff and have the appropriate approvals
Prepare required reporting and payments to fund the benefit accounts after each payroll (i.e. 401K, HSA, FSA, etc.)
Manage the process of reviewing and approving all bills to ensure that they are recorded and processed properly and in alignment with the budget and signature requirements.
Assist with tasks and requests related to the Audit/Finance Committee of the Institute.
Coordinate with the Director, Information Technology and Accounting Manager to ensure data from the Association Management System impacting the general ledger is accurate and timely.
Seek continual improvement opportunities for finance and accounting processes and procedures.
Collaborate with Human Resources to continually develop and improve staff capabilities and capacity to ensure business objectives are exceeded while maintaining a highly engaged staff that is challenged and aligned with the Institute’s vision, mission and values.

What you’ll bring to the job:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, required, Master’s Degree, highly desirable
5+ years of applicable experience, required
Familiarity with payroll software/ HRIS (e.g. ADP), required
Extensive knowledge of financial accounting principles and terms
Strong business acumen
Advanced Excel and reporting skills, including ability to create high quality reports by quickly synthesizing and analyzing information.
Strong experience with accounting, performance management and project management software, and ability to use them to support financial close, planning, reporting and compliance activities
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
