The Graduate Assistant for Creative Services reports to the Associate Director of Athletic Communications. This position will assist in the creation and distribution of creative content, including, but not limited to, graphic design, photography and videos.
The Graduate Assistant position is a 22-month appointment and acceptance to Northwestern’s Master’s in Sports Administration program through the University’s School of Professional Studies is required. The Graduate Assistant must enroll in at least one course per quarter, including summer quarter. A tuition waiver is provided and will cover up to six courses per year. A monthly stipend is provided. This position does not provide benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Assist in the creation of innovative, entertaining and informative design concepts in support of Northwestern’s 19 varsity sports programs.
Maintain visual appearance and brand continuity in both print and digital environments. Content created and executed will include, but not be limited to, still graphics, motion graphics, photos, videos and print materials.
Responsible for creation of graphical templates for sport specific digital media purposes
Works with video, communications and marketing department staffs to ensure that content is regularly updated on department’s main social media accounts, while regularly engaging with fans on social media.
Assist with data analysis of social and digital media campaigns.
Provide coverage — assisting with photography and video — at assigned events.
Other duties as assigned.
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suit (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiers, Illustrator, InDesign).
Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Proven graphic design skills in a fast-paced, demanding setting.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all teams.
Previous experience with an intercollegiate or professional sports communications department is preferred.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
