Department: WEST INST FOOD SAFETY SECURITY - 072065 Department Description: The Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS) is a research and training institute dedicated to bringing the very best science to the challenges of preventing intentional and unintentional harmful contamination of the food system. WIFSS was developed in partnership with the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, UCD College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, California Department of Food and Agriculture, and the California Department of Health Services.

Job Summary: Serve as a lead e-learning graphic and web developer for all print, electronic, and web-based educational and marketing material for the Institute. As the Institute web developer, will design, manage and update web coding to insure the look, layout and features of the Unit's website meet state, federal, and UC policy requirements and identity standards as found at: http://IdentityStandards.ucdavis.edu. As the Institute graphic designer, will be responsible for designing and creating graphics to meet specific educational and marketing needs. This iinvolves understanding both graphic design and computer programming. The graphic designer/web developer will work with the Program Director and Manager, as well as the WIFSS Marketing team and in collaboration with the SVM web master to keep the site current, participate in the development of web-based training courses for state, federal, and local agencies in food safety and security.
Physical Demands: Work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Move and/or transport supplies and boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment: Work a varied schedule at times to meet deadlines.
Work in an area where there is constant traffic and interruptions.
Occasional travel to attend sponsored events and/or serve as a participant and observer of evolving requirements being brought forward through approval of new laws and rules formulated by various Federal Agencies.

Minimum Qualifications: - Experience developing web sites and web applications using a combination of related technologies such as Java script HTML, HTML5, DHTML, XHTML, XML, CSS 2 and 3, PHP and JQuery - Experience with Web Content Management Systems including Word Press - Experience with Google Analytics - Experience with using social media as marketing tools - Experience creating educational and marketing graphics including logos, info-graphics, photo editing/photo re-touching, PowerPoint presentations, - Experience using Adobe Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver - Knowledge of various web-based training applications - Experience developing web-based training - Skilled with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint - Education in Computer Science - Certificate degree in Website design - Good interpersonal and oral communication skills - Experience in time management
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience successfully training team members on various web and graphic design applications
-Skills to train on applicability of online media, social networking, and other message/campaign vehicles, presentation formats.
-Extensive experience in Adobe media production tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Acrobat
