The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a creative, committed, and clear-minded professional to fill the position of Communications Specialist in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This specialist will join the communications team to develop integrated marketing efforts designed to help the University recruit and enroll a diverse and talented student body while celebrating the achievements of prospective students and providing great care to those students, their families, and all others who interact with the office. This position will work to create integrated communications and marketing concepts with appropriate executions across numerous platforms including print, email, digital, video, and social media. Collaborate with other members of the communications team and assume primary responsibility for visual elements of those concepts and executions. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment and is responsible for collaborating to execute all phases of communications — including concept development, timeline management, production, and delivery across multiple channels (e.g. print, digital, video, and email). This position will have primary responsibility for the design-related aspects of communications efforts, which requires the ability to fully understand and embrace the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill brand, empathize with and understand the motivations of the Office’s various audiences, and monitor and master emerging design trends and practices. The position will help to design for and co-manage the Office’s social media accounts and serve as a mentor for interns supporting our social media efforts. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong skills in analytical thinking; an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively; a detail oriented nature; the ability to work well with colleagues, students, parents, and educators and treat all with great care; and a commitment to Carolina’s mission to identify and recruit a diverse and exceptionally talented student body.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Requires mastery of graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (lnDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and preferably Premier Pro)
Requires a basic working knowledge of WordPress web platform
5 years of professional experience in a visual design-related position preferred.
Familiarity with video production, including the tool Adobe Premiere
Web design experience is also preferred.
