This position will be responsible for creating and analyzing data/reports for Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA)/Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)/Contract and Grant Administration (CGA). In order to do this, the basic job function includes but is not limited to the following: creating queries, and organizing and analyzing data from MSU business enterprise systems to prepare customized reports, infographics and other documents; completing data requests from external clients; analyzing software in order to translate functionality for SPA/OSP/CGA; creating/supporting reporting solutions for the internal and external clientele; assist with data quality initiatives; analyzing internal office metrics; operating budgeting and forecasting for the offices; assisting the OSP and CGA in creating and interpreting proposal and award data logging procedures and best practices; participate in stakeholder groups and committees.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business, finance, accounting, statistics, or economics; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial analysis and reporting, metrics and benchmarking; defining requirements and working with financial and related information systems; knowledge of relational database management and sponsored programs pre or post award functions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires the ability to work with export-controlled information.
Ability to organize and manage projects independently; ability to clearly present financial solutions in business terms; capacity to create new ideas for reporting solutions to address customers' business needs; project management experience; effective intra-organizational management and communication skills to manage relationships with all levels including senior management and business partners external to the organization; practical experience with complex systems and compliance requirements of the Federal government, non-profits, University, and other external funding agencies; customer service experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with SQL, Microsoft Access and/or Business Intelligence Software; familiarity with data visualization software; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software or equivalent.
