The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics is seeking a Program Manager to advance our clinical, research, and education programs aimed a realizing the promise of precision medicine. Work with our highly collaborative team of faculty, staff, and trainees within Pharmacogenomics Center of Excellence (PittPGx; led by Dr. Philip Empey) who are actively implementing pharmacogenomics, the use of genomics to guide medication prescribing, into clinical practice. We're transforming healthcare in Pittsburgh and beyond through one of the largest the precision medicine programs nationally!
The PittPGx team has a history of innovation with our PreCISE-Rx (clinical implementation program at UPMC) and Test2Learn (genomics education) programs. We lead a transformative initiative to offer preemptive genetic screening to a large population (>100,000 patients) in a highly collaborative project at UPMC with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the Institute of Precision Medicine. We're looking for a motivated, hands-on Program Manager to help design and develop the future of precision medicine. Successful candidates with work closely with many groups at University of Pittsburgh, UPMC, and external partners to operationalize the vision and strategy of our Center. The right candidate will possess a strong project management background and will have demonstrated experience leading technical projects with tight deadlines. They will be able to thrive and succeed in fast-paced environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. With a highly collaborative team under the direction of Dr. Philip Empey, they will develop and drive high-level strategic. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected.
Three of more years of project management experience in a healthcare-related industry is required. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent with knowledge/experience in pharmacogenomics or precision medicine is ideal. Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal is also a must. Demonstrable strong interpersonal, problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills is expected as well as an ability to operate independently in a highly ambiguous environment.
Request is for a PharmD (pharmacist training is ideal). A Masters degree in a technical or scientific field, combined with an understanding of the healthcare and/or translational research is possible with appropriate experience
