Responsible for most complex systems process analysis, design, and simulation. Requires highest level understanding of organization’s business systems and industry requirements. Focus on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment. Creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to impacted Business Systems teams. Recommends and facilitates quality improvement efforts. Defines and documents the functional, non-functional and data requirements for new product features related to process improvement projects. May lead re-engineering team and act as project manager in some cases.
Business Process Design and improvement: Analyze campus partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Participate in complex, cross-functional, high-visibility transformational process, system and integration projects, process improvement and/or risk mitigation projects that align with the organizations strategic goals. Develop and facilitate discovery sessions, planning meetings, training sessions, and facilitate process improvement meetings. Perform analysis and documentation of existing and new business processes that span multiple areas of the organization. Propose, tailor, and develops quality/process re-engineering improvement efforts to provide return-on-investment or operational improvement. Conducts benchmarking, activity modeling, and surveys. Map current vs. future state by conducting workshops and documenting business flows. Develop scalable processes to support and benefit the organizations growth and vision. Drive improvements and successfully deliver targeted results. Act as change agent, and process improvement subject matter expert. Support Business Change Management and business user testing initiatives across the organization. Requirements Analysis and Execution: Collaborate with stakeholders in specifying product requirements, including feature prioritization and develop use cases to support implementation. Publish requirements and other supporting documents associated with product developments. Play the role of product manager and guide the cross functional teams in the product management methodology, as needed. Formulate and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Coaching: Provides guidance and coaching to junior level Business Process Analysts and Project/Product Managers. Provide guidance and coaching to campus leaders championing continuous process improvement. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: computer technology, business management, management information or computer systems, engineering, organizational development or related field. One to three years of experience in business analysis, operations and project management or the equivalent experience. Experience successfully identifying, scoping and driving process improvement projects. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem solving, presentation, customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills. Proven ability to facilitate cross functional teams. Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills with great attention to detail. Experience with common analysis techniques to support the requirements lifecycle. Techniques could include, but are not limited to Data Modeling, Observation, Process Modeling, Process Analysis, Use Cases, User Stories, Prototyping, Interviews, Prioritization, Interface Analysis, Backlog Management, Business Cases, Decision Analysis, Decision Modeling, etc. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel) are required. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem solving, presentation, customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work well with all organizational levels.
Solid understanding of product management processes, experience in agile methodology, prioritization of requirements and development of business cases. Project management certification such as PMP/PMI certification a plus. Lean Six Sigma or other Quality certification a plus. Experience with continuous improvement projects in education and/or government organizations a plus. Experience with industry process frameworks and models. CBAP or other business analysis certification. Experience as a business analyst in a higher education environment.
