Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a Director of Buildings and Grounds who is responsible for planning and executing the program of campus maintenance, custodial services, construction, and security. The position works with all Divisions and Departments of the school to ensure that the school has safe, clean and up to date facilities for use by the faculty, staff, students, and guests.

As the Director of Buildings and Grounds, you will enjoy being part of our culture made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds, heritages, and experiences. This role is responsible for the following:
Develop and maintain a long-range plan for the replacement or upgrade of equipment and facilities.
Identify, prioritize, and manage major capital and operational projects.
Serve as a member of the Administrative Team and attend all of its meetings and functions.
Manage and supervise department staff including, but not limited to, Plant Manager, Director of Security, building and grounds staff, and custodial staff.
Produce annual operating and capital budgets and implement them.
Manage hours of operation of all mechanical systems to ensure comfort while taking into consideration the conservation of energy.
Ensure all vehicles are maintained and properly inspected.
Serve as project manager, assuring federal and state contract compliance, timely completion of tasks, and satisfactory sub-contractor performance on any Academy construction projects.
Maintain records of all inspections required by federal, state, and local codes in regards to fire, safety, and other related ordinances.
Ensures compliance with applicable building and safety codes, OSHA, and other regulations.
Serve as the point person in regards to the schools Asbestos Management Plan.
Coordinate all event set-ups in each division as well as the auditorium and athletic facilities.
Purchase all furniture, furnishings, and equipment for classrooms and support areas.

A bachelor’s degree in facilities management or related field.
Minimum of seven years of plant maintenance work experience in an academic or industry setting.
Demonstrated oral, written, and verbal skills with the ability to prepare and make effective presentations and communicate with a wide variety of constituents.
Prior experience working in a residential or commercial property management setting is preferred.
Ability to collaborate across multiple departments while being able to make decisions decisively when necessary.
Progressive management experience, including direct supervision of a team.
Ability to be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
Proactive and strategic in anticipating the physical plant needs of the school.
