Graduate Assistant, Campus Ministry Coordinator
Holy Names University is pleased to announce a search for a Graduate Assistant, Campus Ministry Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Directors of Campus Ministry and working with other relevant constituencies including the Office of Mission Integration and Center for Social Justice, the Graduate Assistant for Campus Ministry will apply classroom learning to a Campus Ministry setting and fulfill the Learning Outcomes and Assessment by:
Assisting with general operations of the Office of Campus Ministry and various programs, as agreed upon with the Directors, and in service to the mission of HNU;
Increasing Campus ministry presence, availability, and support to the campus community;
Sustaining residence hall outreach and faith sharing communities;
Offering a broad variety of gifts and perspectives to Campus Ministry programs; and
Helping to lead Campus Ministry efforts to build a vibrant community of faith through worship, hospitality, and service among members of our diverse student body, faculty, and staff, particularly in the areas of liturgy, small group fellowship, interfaith spirituality, service, retreats, and leadership development.
AREAS OF PARTICULAR FOCUS INCLUDE
Worship and fellowship experiences that focus on deepening values, healing, community-building, setting priorities, creating a spiritual balance and social/environmental justice, particularly as they relate to and embrace campus-wide concerns and campaigns (e.g., Water, Human Trafficking, etc.) and ministry experiences in the residence halls.
The development of servant leader skills, such as training and practice in non-violent & visionary leadership, interweaving the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching, as well as ecumenical, interfaith, and spiritual pluralism.
Expanding consciousness & responsibility for all of creation through environmental and social justice activities.
Opportunities for collaboration with local faith communities, for example, St Vincent de Paul, Canticle Farm, St Anthony Foundation and the Oakland Catholic Worker.
Expanded opportunities for faith sharing, meditation and spiritual formation/accompaniment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Assistance with Operations of Campus Ministry Department
Coordination of Inclusive (e.g., ecumenical, interfaith) Faith-Based Community Gatherings and
Related Service/Justice Opportunities.
Coordination of Outreach and Promotion
Maintain a presence at signature Campus Ministry programs throughout the year
Other duties include: willingness and ability to drive a 12-passenger van for off-campus activities; administrative projects such as calendar maintenance, database management, social media integration and digital presentations; helping to create and maintain the signature characteristic of hospitality in all Campus Ministry spaces and programs; respond to needs of the department, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Initiation of, or acceptance into an accredited Graduate Program is required.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Applicants should have:
Experience working with students in an educational setting is desirable.
Ability to articulate their own understanding and experience of faith journey and why it is valuable to have a Campus Ministry Department at Holy Names University.
Ability to assist the Directors in implementing pastoral practices related to serving the diverse HNU community through Campus Ministry offerings.
Ability to use computers and social media to engage and involve the campus community.
Ability to assist the Directors in program development, evaluation, marketing and promotion.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Compensation includes (furnished) room and board (14 meals a week) with internet and cable provided and up to 18 units of graduate tuition covered per academic year. Units taken will vary based on season and approval of supervisor.
