Departmental Overview The Haas School of Business develops path bending leaders - individuals who redefine how we do business. Berkeley-Haas, the second oldest business school in the United States, educates 2,200 students each year in six degree-granting programs, and hundreds more through executive education programs. A team of 300 staff members support these students, faculty and alumni through work in areas that include Admissions, Student Services, Career Management, Administration, Development and Alumni Relations.
The MBA Career Management Group (CMG) is a fast-paced, high performing department within the Haas School of Business. The team provides programs and services to students and companies, with the goal of connecting them for employment opportunities.
The Event Coordinator is an essential part of the MBA Career Management Group. The team hosts multiple events for students and recruiters (company presentations, networking events, on-campus interviews), and are in need of someone to help execute those flawlessly.
Assist the MBA Career Management Group in facilitating the interaction of corporate recruiters and the event venues (Haaspitality Suite, Faculty Club, Chou Hall, Cal Career Center, and surrounding hotels) ensuring that reservations, catering, and AV equipment are handled smoothly.
Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and attendance for various day and evening recruiting activities, including company presentations and networking events.
Prepare, set-up and attend events, which take place in the early afternoon or in the evening. September-November there are usually multiple events per day (Mon-Thurs).
Ensure that visiting company representatives receive parking passes and appropriate directions to and from parking.
At times, help logistically support other CMG programs, such as seminars and workshops.
Responsible for ensuring companies have paid and for occasionally creating catering breakdown forms (to get the per person cost of the event).
Recruitment Center Support
Support the reception activities of fast paced MBA Recruitment Center, providing exceptional customer service to company representatives, students, and other guests.
Work with catering to ensure delivery and clean-up of meals.
Respond to student questions about presentation and interview logistics.
Track student attendance at events.
Save invoices and record CMG's spending for interviews and networking events.
Record all usage of parking passes.
Use Career Services' database for contact information of appropriate recruiters.
Update recruiter information as necessary.
2-3 years of event planning experience.
Experience in event management and/or the hospitality industry.
Professional business presence and maturity.
Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks under pressure, with attention to detail and follow-up skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of personalities.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and web-based applications.
Good project management skills, working well in groups and showing good judgment.
Availability to work between the hours of 7:00AM and 9:00PM, dependent on schedule of events
Salary & Benefits This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay will be commensurate with experience within the Union negotiated rates of $23.65 - $25.34 / Step 7.0 - 10.0.

Other Information This is a part-time, temporary project role that will be between 30-40 hours per week (75%-100% time). Most weeks will be 30-hours per week. The project will take up to 30-weeks to complete, but may be completed sooner.
