Reporting to the Manager of Business Systems and Solutions and under the direction of the Director of Enrollment Management IT Systems and Services, the Information Technology Specialist will join a newly established team providing a full range of IT support and services to a fast-paced, dynamic and innovative unit. In addition to supporting our business systems infrastructure, the candidate will assist the Manager of Business Systems and Solutions in discovering and supporting technical solutions for enrollment management systems and processes. Specific duties include: providing hardware and software technical support for approx. 75 staff users and over 30 enrollment events annually; keeping approx. 200 computer systems secure and running trouble free; installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, document scanners, etc.) and software (Windows 10, Mac OS 10.6 and newer, Microsoft Office 2013 and newer, Google apps, cloud technologies and other web-based applications, etc.); assisting in researching and/or developing innovative technologies that increase efficiency and productivity of enrollment management processes; supporting Enrollment Management business software application clients; training and supervising student technicians; maintaining physical inventory and customer service tickets via ticketing system; serving as a liaison with UMBC technical service providers and vendors; providing individualized technology training and consultation to staff; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an information technology related field.
Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as customer service, organizational, project management, and verbal/written communication skills.
Knowledge of Mac OS and Apple hardware troubleshooting helpful.
One year of full time experience in IT support, preferably in an educational environment. Must be proficient in resolving a large variety of computer hardware and software problems.
