The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Instructional Technologist for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) who will assist faculty in effectively applying technology to enhance teaching and learning. Primary responsibilities include supporting the use of learning management systems and associated technologies, such as lecture capture, plagiarism detection, screen capture, video recording, and emerging technologies. This support may take the form of analyzing faculty instructional technology requirements, recommending solutions, developing support materials, and troubleshooting problems for faculty.
Emphasis will be placed on the collaboration and excellent communication with pedagogy and technology colleagues in the Office of Distance Education, internal and external partners. Supplementary high-level duties require familiarity with learning management systems (specifically Canvas) and knowledge of LTI standards for integrations. The ability to build credit-bearing and noncredit-bearing courses in the LMS is necessary. Other duties include exploring and evaluating promising new teaching and learning technologies. Project management experience managing projects formally or informally will be increasingly important as the distance education and online continuing education initiatives in SHRS grow.
The preferred candidate will have experience leading short- and mid-term projects and meeting reasonable timelines while working independently. The strong candidate will have five years of experience providing support technology services in higher education. Experience with the development of online, hybrid and continuing education courses will be beneficial. Knowledge and familiarity with audio and video files is a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in the field of Educational Technology, Information Science, or closely related field or compensatory experience is required
