The Project Manager's primary job duties are to ensure successful management and timely completion of milestones for a suite of projects, within budget and in regulatory compliance. The Project Manager will be responsible for understanding all aspects of the studies and how they relate always knowing the status of the various tasks.
The ideal candidate will project timelines and deliverables, adjusting as needed with feedback from the research team or as goals change. The incumbent will be familiar with general regulatory requirements such as IRBs, DUAs, and be able to produce study operating procedures ensuring study compliance. The Project Manager will attend project meetings, submit revised IRB and IACUC submissions, draft research presentations and annual reports. The incumbent will communicate with sites and vendors to obtain data and be able to effectively communicate about data regarding data dictionaries and various formats when speaking with sites and vendors. They will also be able to do high-level analysis of data sets to verify general data quality to provide to the project team, outside sites, and vendors.
The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical research and promoting the study to outside participants and stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and organizational skills, versatility, and the ability to work independently and within a team to promote multiple projects and tasks simultaneously are required. Experience in research project management required. Experience with online survey administration (i.e. Qualtrics) and online project management tools (i.e. SharePoint) is preferred. An understanding/strong desire to learn of/about different clinical data sources and types of data is preferred.
Master's degree in a suitable field (epidemiology, public health, health service research) plus experience in program evaluation in health care or a a related field. Extensive experience may be substituted for advanced degree requirements.
Department Details: Dr. Michael R. Pinsky, professor in the department of Critical Care Medicine, is the scientific principal investigator. The Project Manager will report directly to Dr. Pinsky and will be a part of a multidisciplinary team of Pitt researchers and clinicians from emergency medicine, surgery, critical care, and pulmonay fields, as well as with roboticists and computer scientists from CMU. Pitt & CMU have been awarded contracts from the Department of Defense to create an autonomous trauma care system: Trauma Care In a Rutsack: TRACIR.
