George Mason University's Office of Communications and Marketing has an immediate opening for a Videographer/Producer, an integral position on our Marketing team. The primary purpose of this position is to produce and direct video content that supports strategic university brand initiatives and student recruitment. Secondarily, video productions will also support the university homepage, core site, news, digital and web formats of major print publications, major university events and social media. The ideal candidate will have significant time behind the camera and experience both conceptualizing videos and directing field shoots.
Responsibilities: The Videographer/Producer must supervise, manage and train a full-time video editor as well as student employees, on-set volunteers, and freelance workers. This position will serve as the principal cinematographer and director for most productions. This position requires someone who works creatively and cooperatively in a team setting as well as comfortably and efficiently on his or her own.
Bachelors or equivalent training/experience in Video Production, Videography, Film/Media Studies, Communication, or similar discipline;
Substantial demonstrated experience in field (significant experience preferred);
Experience producing (plan, shoot, light, record, and edit) strong video, audio and multimedia as required by concept and script;
Experience managing a set;
Experience with creating storyboards that include prop lists, equipment needs, location suggestions, scene styling/setting suggestions;
Advanced-level user of multimedia authoring software like Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro.
A strong visual thinker with great conceptual skills;
The ability to research and quickly understand/distill complex story matter;
Great people skills. Must be able to relate with or develop an easy rapport with a broad range of faculty, staff, and students in various stages of their careers from diverse backgrounds and life experiences;
Ability to supervise, manage and train a full-time video editor as well as student employees, on-set volunteers and freelance workers.
Salary: low to mid $50's
