JPMorgan's Global Commodities Group (GCG) business provides risk management solutions, develops investor products and makes markets in metals, energy, and agricultural commodities around the world. The business is focused on serving both corporate clients (producers and consumers of commodities) as well as investor clients, in developing client-driven solutions matched with world-class client service and execution.
Controllers are both business-aligned, with accountability to the respective CFO, and support the overall F&BM organization. Broadly speaking, Controllers are responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, including legal entity, financial and regulatory, as well as product valuation; and improving ongoing processes, and ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.
Controllers are also responsible for financial / management reporting, including providing analytical support to the business CFOs on key topics such as business performance assessment, competitor analysis, annual budgeting and strategic planning; designing, establishing, and maintaining an efficient and effective MIS infrastructure to support delivery of required management information; and disseminating financial information and analysis to CFO groups on areas of key business importance to enable CFOs to support / advise business heads.
Associates can expect to be involved in projects across many of these areas, as needs can shift rapidly, and tight deadlines sometimes require "full-team" efforts.
Associate Roles and Responsibilities:
Support risk-weighted assets (RWA) and capital reduction initiatives across the business
Provide analysis and educate the Trading and Sales organization
Analyze and communicate the impact of the Basel Committee's capital standards on the unique physical and financial aspects of the commodities business
Monthly/ Quarterly External reporting submissions and review with GCG and Markets Controllers
Funding and liquidity analytics for the Commodities business
Assist GCG CFO and GCG Controller on ad-hoc tasks
Provide Balance Sheet and Capital MIS for senior management in Finance and Commodities
LE Reporting & Analysis - This will include responsibility for monthly NA Commodities reporting (primarily JPMVEC & subsidiaries) and analysis of Legal Entity results
Monthly financial analysis - This will require in-depth investigation & understanding of the balances in the legal entities and coordinating and seeking details and information from global teams in financial control and product control
Provide variance commentary to the Central legal entity and reg reporting team for monthly and quarterly reviews of BS and P&L
R&R - involved with review and signing off on R&R appendices
experience in an Accounting, Internal / External Reporting, or Product Control
Strong Knowledge of JPM Infrastructure is a plus (e.g. FDW, BDM, CDGL, Paragon)
Accounting background a strong plus (understanding rationale for accounting entries that are put through is important in this role)
Strong desire to learn - self starter
Ability to operate in dynamic environment with multiple assignments and challenging deadlines
Keen eye for detail
Solid computer skills, especially Excel and Power Point
