The Department of Advancement with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist II – Social Media Specialist.
The Communications Specialist II will function as a social media specialist, analyst, consultant, designer and project coordinator. The position will lead social media efforts across the extension organization and provide general communication support. This person will develop social media content plans which will include repurposed and original content. This person will have the ability to design graphical posts for social media usage. The position will analyze, identify, track, evaluate and format social media data. This person will be responsible for recommending social media advertising opportunities, managing the social media budget, tracking results and sharing best practices with faculty and staff. Successful applicants will serve as a social media consultant for the organization, providing guidance and training to leadership and Extension personnel, while staying current and identifying new social media and industry trends.
The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to work as part of a creative team, demonstrated social media and design skills, be organized and detail-oriented, and work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will have the ability to understand Extension and Outreach's culture and negotiate and work with a wide range of internal and external groups to ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Design, Public Relations, or related field. Experience in communication development and distribution. Social media/digital communications experience. Project coordination experience. Basic design skills and familiarity with design tools. Experience with data compilation, manipulation, and evaluation.
