The Associate Director is responsible for the successful delivery of The N.U.in Program as well as has direct oversight of all programmatic, administrative and operational aspects of the N.U.in office for all overseas locations. S/he spearheads the development and revision of policy, streamlining of processes and procedures, and optimization of human capacity and coordination of efforts within a large-sized staff of full and part-time employees. Additionally, the Associate Director actively collaborates with other units and groupings within NU Global, across the University, and with all external partners. The Associate Director will also oversee the programs Marketing/Communication efforts as well as the hiring/training of staff at the program's international sites.
The N.U.in Associate Director works collaboratively and collectively with other unit directors and other collegiate partners to help provide students with a clear and successful pathway from initial interest to on-site experience to their transition to Northeastern University.
Additionally, the Associate Director leads efforts aimed at continuous quality assurance and program improvement, monitor best practices, and develop a vision and plan for enhancing existing systems to better serve the N.U.in students. S/he serves as the main liaison for the N.U.in program to internal and external constituencies. Overall, the Associate Director is an agent for change necessary to promote success for the N.U.in students, while maintaining the mission of N.U.in and Northeastern University.
Essential functions include:
- Provides leadership and oversees all day-to-day operations of the N.U.in Program at international locations. - Builds and maintains a strong professional staff focused on outstanding customer service, efficient operations and commitment to excellence. - Develops and maintains systems and processes to maximize efficiency and provide superior service to students - Monitors operations and program effectiveness and implements new strategies with an eye toward continuous improvement in keeping with the philosophy and policies of N.U.in and the University. - Builds and maintains relationships with, and mediates among key stakeholders both in unit, across units, across university, and with external partners. - Assists in the management of the overall Program budget and oversees all program expenses and allocation of program funds, reimbursement processes, and coordinates review and approval of financial invoices. - Coordinates the N.U.in Program Emergency Response plan in collaboration with the international site staff, Boston employees, partner staff, and Northeastern Administrators. - Oversees the development and implementation of staff trainings and professional development opportunities for N.U.in staff in Boston and abroad. - Oversees the supervision of all staff at international locations. - Collaborates with NU leadership to develop and manage international partner relationship and program development. - Oversees the coordination of the Marketing and Communication efforts by the program. - Oversees the implementation of the N.U.in student conduct policy.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in student affairs, higher education or related field required. Master's degree preferred. - 4 – 7 years professional experience with a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience with increasing responsibilities in a large, complex unit within a higher education institution. - Significant experience working, living, or study abroad required. - Experience in residential life, student conduct, student affairs preferred. - Experience in Marketing and Communication processes preferred. - Experience in hiring and training staff preferred. - Skill in a language other than English preferred.
Skills required include: - Effective administrative, supervisory, and organizational skills - Excellent communication skills - Ability to direct and integrate diverse aspects of a complex project or program, ensuring that work progresses toward achieving goals and objectives on time and on budget with little direction - Demonstrated leadership and ability to facilitate and implement change - Project management experience and a demonstrated ability to manage rapidly evolving priorities. - Proven track record of effective and results driven problem solving, conflict mediation, de-escalation, and decision-making. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to diverse constituencies. - Highly effective and organized presenter and meeting facilitator. - Understanding of, and ability to use technologies, systems, and tools common in higher education (e.g. Apply Yourself, FolderWave, Maxient, Banner, Salesforce, Social Media, Content Management Systems etc.) and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and student record and management systems. - Deep understanding of campus climate within higher education and how to take actions that satisfy diverse interests while achieving programmatic and unit goals. - Demonstrated ability to build and maintain teams; excellent team-member whether as lead or member. - Commitment to diversity in the work environment. - Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel internationally and domestically.
