Manage the transgenic mouse colony, including breeding, identification, weaning, genotyping. Maintain up to date records on colony status.
Learn and perform mouse and molecular experiments related to relevant research projects, learn and perform relevant data analysis on Prism or Excel. Gain proficiency and be independent in experimental procedures and data analysis.
Give oral and poster presentations on research projects. Participate in lab meetings, scientific discussion, manuscript writing and editing.
Assist with experiments as required.
25% Training and management
Train personnel and undergraduates in laboratory and experimental techniques, record keeping practices, data analysis.
Be primary supervisor and point of contact for undergraduate researchers. Supervise data collection and accurate record-keeping for undergraduate researchers until proficient.
Coordinate experiments between lab staff and undergraduates.
Maintain equipment, track inventory and order reagents related to general lab function and research projects.
Maintain lab adherence to regulations, training requirements, perform duties as necessary for regulatory compliance.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or similar field, plus one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal five years.
One year experience with leadership or management of personnel.
Project management and logistics skills.
Experience with mouse behavioral research including colony management, genotyping, mouse behavioral phenotyping.
Proficient in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, immunohistochemistry, cloning, protein expression.
Experience with Excel, Prism software.
