Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world renowned research organization is presently seeking an Associate Course Registrar and Assistant Conference Coordinator to fill an immediate position.
The ideal candidate will plan for designated science based courses on-campus and at the Banbury campus to ensure the seamless planning and coordination of the courses and workshops which take place within the Meetings and Courses department. This position will interact closely with all levels of management along with instructors, visiting faculty and students. This position will also have special projects assigned and may also conference coordinate for a couple of meetings a year.
EDUCATION: - Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus
EXPERIENCE: - 1 or more years in conference/event planning and project management or participated in a resident assistant/new student orientation program while attending college. Planning in the healthcare, science or higher-education/non-profit field is a plus
OTHER: - CMP certification a plus or willing to participate in a training program leading to the professional CMP certification A qualified candidate will have the following skills to do the job successfully; - Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage many tasks simultaneously is a must - Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to adhere to payment policies pertaining to participant enrollment - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Strong computer skills; Proficiency in Excel a must - Ability to learn the internal conference database system - Ability to work calmly and effectively in stressful situations - Exceptional customer service skills to exceed expectations - Punctual, dependable and dedicated to achieving operational excellence, down to the smallest of details - Discreet, ethical and committed to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality - Maintaining a consistently professional approach, while taking ownership and responsibility both within and outside one’s job domain.
