Fountain Valley School of Colorado seeks an enthusiastic and experienced fundraising professional to join our Development Team. The ideal candidate will have a successful background in fundraising, be a team player, and possess excellent project management and communication skills. Creative insight and enthusiasm are highly desirable. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position reporting directly to the Director of Development.
The Assistant Director of Development is a key member of the Development Team. In addition to fundraising, the Assistant Director defines, manages and executes effective long-term alumni, parent, and faculty and staff programs, engagement, and fundraising strategies. The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for the creation, implementation, and coordination of alumni and parent programs with the goal of maintaining interest and involvement among Fountain Valley School’s constituents in order to increase FVS’s visibility, student enrollment, and financial contributions. They will also possess the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, computer proficiency, proven project management experience, and the ability to work independently. A willingness to work outside normal business hours is essential as peak periods and special events necessitate some evening and weekend hours. Regular cultivation and stewardship travel, as well as various regional alumni reception travel, is required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Working strategically with the Director of Development and other members of the Advancement Team:
Coordinate Annual Fund solicitations including mail and online appeals in conjunction with the overall Annual Fund effort.
Manage and oversee FVS’s participation in Colorado Gives Day and FVS Giving Day.
Cultivate and solicit gifts from prospects and meet assigned fundraising goals.
Develop and maintain prospective corporate, foundation and individual donor lists.
Plan fundraising approach and oversee the preparation and distribution of proposals, fund appeals, and promotional materials.
Administer, manage and support a growing annual fund portfolio and implement innovative strategies for renewal and rejuvenation of mid-level donors.
Responsible for all aspects of the School’s parent and alumni programs and engagement. To include recruitment, development of opportunities, role assignment, training, and management.
Work with the Director of Development and Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager to create and implement a reunion giving program to enhance engagement, annual giving, and attendance during FVS annual reunion weekend.
Work with Director of Development to identify, write, and manage grants.
Other duties that accompany working at a boarding school.
Environment: indoor office working with some outdoor events
Physical demands: able to sit and stand for at least 8 hours per day; occasional after hours, weekend and/ or weeknight obligations. Must be able to lift 40 lb.

Qualifications and Skills:
Experience in fundraising, volunteer management, alumni/parent relations, as well as strong attention to detail and organization.
Strong understanding of and commitment to philanthropy
Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Apps Educational Suite, mail merges, and data input. Raiser’s Edge or Blackbaud experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal expression
Ability to direct volunteers and manage people
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize among assignments
Ability to work independently and as an effective team player
