As an Associate System Analyst within Northwestern University’s Administrative Systems team, you will have opportunity to support and enhance Northwestern’s vendor developed and in-house applications that make up our Financial Systems, including PeopleSoft Financials and IBM TM1/Planning Analytics. You will work closely with our system analysts, business partners, and our onsite development team to implement quality business solutions used university wide. We are looking for a candidate with strong problem solving skills and an insatiable desire to learn how systems work.In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in planning and driving requirements sessions to determine functionality needs, developing and executing test plans, and documenting business process improvements. You will also have a chance to learn about project management by participation in multiple phases of business critical projects.

Associate Systems Analysts perform tasks related to the design, implementation, support/maintenance, and enhancement of Northwestern's vendor and in-house developed enterprise applications.They document functional requirements, analyze requirements in the context of software and processes, develop and execute test plans, document business process improvement efforts, and work to resolve production issues.They also develop content, execute processes, and perform procedures for technical and functional system work that is low in complexity.
Participates with senior analysts, end users and peers to ensure that user requirements are gathered, analyzed, all gaps are documented, and all deliverables completed (adhering to approved methodology and documentation standards).
Participates with functional users and technical staff to determine best approaches, ensuring that approved solutions are implemented in a timely and correct fashion.
Contributes to the creation of accurate documentation of process, procedure, and system/application configuration.
Provides input into the creation and maintenance of test scripts, implementation project plans, roll out communications and training materials.
Identifies simple use cases.
Provides input into test scripts and performs detailed testing for simple use cases to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly.
Participates in iterative feedback processes among users, developers, and analysts to ensure software functionality aligns with requirements.
Enters basic software configurations to meet user needs.
Collaborates with technical, reporting and application resources to analyze and resolve basic production issues in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Knowledge of higher education or public sector business processes including budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting.
Exposure to IBM TM1/Planning Analytics (NUPlans), Oracle PeopleSoft Financials (NUFinancials).
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Familiarity with SQL or other query tools to perform analysis.
Excellent learning skills, ability to synthesize and extend learning to other similar cases.
Ability to quickly acquire technical and functional proficiency with new software applications.
Ability to effectively present ideas, both orally and in a written form.
