POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director for Administrative Technology Services, the Application Developer II is responsible for the development and support of enterprise applications at Berklee to support the institution's strategic goals and business customer needs. This support includes analyzing needs, determining solutions, developing specification/requirements, and designing application programs, and building integrations. This position will work collaboratively to assist in all phases of the SDLC on a team that provides ongoing operational development and change management support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze client system and application needs, determine potential solutions, develop technical specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements. Ensure a complete transition to operations.
Consult with business analysts and/or users to identify and document technical requirements.
Evaluate functional specifications and requirements against available systems and functionality.
Design and build sustainable, scalable, and integrated solutions which may include applications, databases, networks, and related systems.
Ensure code review and documentation of all developed solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
5-7 years hands on experience developing solutions for enterprise-wide initiatives using a variety of programming languages.
Minimum 3 years experience developing in SaaS cloud environments.
Ability to translate functional requirements into technology requirements that leverage the existing technology stack.
OS: Windows, Mac, Linux experience.
Eclipse, Java experience.
Programming including Python, Perl, SQL, CSS, XML, JSON, PHP
Understanding of applications, tools, methodologies, as well as a broad background in a variety of enterprise applications, including development in cloud environments.
Understanding of release management.
Knowledge of database systems and integrations platforms..
Knowledge and experience with modern project management tools and methodologies.
Knowledge of IT Service Management best practices (e.g. ITIL).
Web development a plus.
Workday cloud platform experience a plus.
Higher Education experience a plus.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats with both technical and business users.
