EVENTS MANAGER , SOLVE , to lead the planning and execution of Solve's year-round events, including the annual flagship events, Solve Challenge Finals, and Solve at MIT. Responsibilities include delivering world-class events while adhering to predetermined budgets; managing event consultants and liaising with communications and community team staff; managing event operations and logistics; working with stakeholders, planning schedules, and drawing up and executing work-plans for multi-venue campus event activities; developing/managing event budgets; developing/overseeing data tracking processes for events, sessions, and speakers; negotiating/executing vendor contracts; coordinating on-site event logistics including vendor and volunteer management; developing and communicating event staffing plan; overseeing outsourced event vendors; managing event software and relevant Salesforce activities; supporting partnerships team on sponsorship dinners and receptions; managing office operations; and supporting ad-hoc and other projects as needed.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; five years' project management experience, including at least two in event management; ability to deliver high quality, complex, multi-venue, 500+ person events, preferably focused on social and environmental impact; ability to build relations with stakeholders including production, facilities, catering, and other vendors; ability to manage event design and aesthetics; experience working in a complex, multilayered environment with multiple stakeholders; strong organizational, management, decision-making, and verbal and written communication skills; flexibility; and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, take initiative, anticipate needs, manage vendor relationships and meet budget goals, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously despite interruptions, and prioritize and plan work to meet deadlines.
